BF5 Unavailable on PS5?

Hey all,

Wondering if anyone else is having this issue or has an answer/explanation. I own a digital copy of BF5 on PS4 which should be backwards compatible with PS5, however, when I go to the BF5 page on PlayStation store it simply says "Not available for purchase", with no option for me to download the game I already own... Anyone know whats up? My PS4 copies of BF4 and BF1 seem to work just fine on my PS5, but for whatever reason I can't play or even download the newest Battlefield on my PS5... Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I should mention that there is the option for me to purchase the PS4 version of the Definitive Edition... Is this necessary in order to play on PS5?

  • The PS4 Definitive Edition isn't required to play on PS5.

That's strange - I was able to transfer my PS4 version of BFV from my external drive quite easily; have you tried restoring licenses and making sure your system software is up to date?

  • System software is up to date. How do I go about restoring licenses? I haven't tried transferring the game via an external HDD from my PS4 to PS5, but I guess I could give that a go. Was just hoping to easily download it from the PlayStation store.

Weird it wouldn't list the game to allow transfer from USB SSD to PS5 internal SSD. But it did give option to delete from it in storage settings. Every other PS4 transferred fine.

I've had to download BF5 from PS store. 100GB ☹️

Hey all - Not sure if it was done automatically or whatever but I had my post unaccepted as an answer since it didn't exactly fix the situation you were in.

Normally, if you had a PS4 external HDD it'd be pretty easy to transfer; for whatever reason it wouldn't allow you to do that with PS5 but Windows is correct in that you should be able to access your full library from the main menu (no matter the edition you have).

Multiple things could have happened here - the definitive upgrade path for BFV could have been affecting your download, your game wasn't fully up to date, system upgrades hadn't fully taken effect on your PS5, etc. etc. -- Even though it clocked in at over 100GB, were you able to fully download it again normally? If you are still having problems I can ask one of the techies in the forums I use.

  • I'm having an issue like that. On my ps5 the monthly ps plus game is battlefield 5 for one if them. I had the trial but deleted it and when I go to it it says the same thing that I own it already. Not sure what up with that. Any ideas?

I've got a similar issue on my Ps4. I don't know long ago when I added BF5 trial version to my library. Ever since, the BF5 the ps store says 'unavailable for purchase', because of which I can't get the full game as part of the ps plus offer. Stuck with the trial version.

@mob199man01 @AK_BEA5T_23 Some players with the same issue contacted PlayStation support and asked them to remove the trial version of the game from their account. That fixed the issue for them and they were able to download the full version.
