Going to EA Support, is pointless. (They used to have a way of going into your account/their server side information and unlocking it for you, but no longer can do that.)
Sony Support said the same thing, except when I requested a refund to my account, I was told that it is past 14 days and not possible.
The game is defective, the Issue has been known since November 2018, neither company can be bothered to Fix or address the issue. What they can do is bury any YouTube videos and Google searches so that the problem is not widely discussed, known about easily, thus not hurting their bottom line or ability to take your money. If I had known about this, I would have bought a different game.
Complaining on their own forums will not produce anything in the way of public shaming them into saying there is a major problem with their product or a time-table for an actual fix.
