So when this issue is finally fixed, I believe Dice should develop an Eastern Front expansion for BFV (which it should have got instead of 2042) as compensation for this devastating and potentially world ending issue.

The current issue on the community server will be resolved by the EA team. This has been outlined in previous posts on EA forms.
How long will it take? We players have been unable to play the game normally for a long time.

No, I wouldn't worry about that. The issue is being worked on, so it's pretty much just a case of waiting for a fix.
