Delete the flares already..

It's ridiculous, log in for the first time in months. 4 servers in nothing but pub stacking and a bunch of flares up constantly, you can't shoot them down fast enough. Toss in that you're looking at the sky trying to take them out.. Seriously get rid of them already, it was a bad idea and nothing will fix it aside from maybe a cap on how frequently they can be shot up.

It does not even make sense from a real world perspective. Spotting flares are not going to give you exact enemy location in real life. So why do it in this game? What point is the spotting scope?

  • Granted, you’re correct to state that flares will not give you an exact location of every enemy, but that’s only in certain scenarios.  I’ve personally shot flares in training environments, which gave away the vast majority of movement we needed, in order to engage.  Also remembering it’s a game and there has to be some level of “game-fluff” added, I see it being an advantage to both sides, desperately needed to give award to a playing curve.  Just a thought, but maybe spacing flares would be an added benefit, rather than one after another.

  • I agree with you. Flares should only mark the enemies that are within your team's line of sight. If you shoot flares over a building but nobody on your team can see behind it, the enemies shouldn't be marked. I feel that a rework is needed. The radius of flares are awfully large, and we shouldn't have enemies marked if they are hiding behind cover and nobody on your team can see them. For example, on Rotterdam there are large blocks of buildings that surround objectives. We shouldn't be able to see enemies behind these building blocks from flares. Similarly, there is no realistic purpose to using flares on Operation Underground. When you are defending a spawn objective on that map, you can fire flares and see the enemies marked out that are underground while the majority of your team is above and camping the exits. The most frustrating thing about flares is that when hiding behind tall coverage such as buildings, you remain spotted but cannot shoot the flare down because the building obstructs your vision of the flare.

Would love to see those types of changes made to flares. Hiding beneath an overhang/little shack roof I understand, but showing up on the map when you are inside a building is a little much.

At least the game tells you if/when you are spotted and the new shotgun makes it super easy to shoot em down
