I have been experiencing crashes in Battlefield V since it launched for Premier customers. The crashes always happen in the same way: during a game everything just freezes for 3-6 seconds and I land back to my desktop without any error message. Sometimes it takes two games to crash and sometimes it crashes after 10 to 15 minutes.
I have taken the following steps:
1. Uninstalled Nvidia drivers with DDU and reinstalled them without Geforce Experience.
2. I backrolled to the previous version but did not have any effect.
3. I have tried the following drivers: 416.34/81/94 and the problem persists with all of them.
4. I have reinstalled Battlefield V and repaired it multiple times.
5. I have tried to stress my pc in other games but Battlefield V is the only one where it crashes.
6. I have closely monitored temperature and usages rates of my mem, gpu and cpu.
7. Tried changing between DX11 and 12 = crashing continues.
I did not experience these problems during Battlefield V Beta.
Attached you can find dxdiag.txt and two .txt reports from Windows Eventviewer. These reports are the only ones I have been able to find.
Thank you in advance!
Using Windows 10 Oct Update and latest NVIDIA driver. Had to disable DX12\DXR in PROFSAVE_profile to recover game.

Try to repair install the game, also while in main menu graphics settings, enable dx12
- Anonymous7 years ago
Same here. The game crashes at startup when i enable dx12 setting. Whats the problem?
- Anonymous7 years ago
I have same problem. I had this problem also in BF1 with dx11 and dx12. its crash randomly to desktop and no error messages. I have no lag at all in game then suddently its crash. Sometimes it crash when in spawnmenu. its very random sometimes i play 2 hours without crash sometimes 10 minutes. Its exactly same problem that in BF1 and BFV BETA. I DONT HAVE CRASHES IN ANY OTHER GAMES, how this is possible?. report says the same than this post.I have newest drivers 18.11.2 Im starting really to get angry because of this. ive tryed clean drivers install. BFV repair. deleting bfv document. In BF1 it sometimes said DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED but manytimes like BFV go to deskop and no messages and no freeze or anything lag before that.

BF1 was not a DX12 enabled game. BFV is supposed to be a DX12 enabled game. But, in reality it isn't. Attempting to make use of the better UI that DX12 provides will crash the game repeatedly. But, then again....the game crashes repeatedly anyway. No matter what settings are employed. I have tried just about everything to get this game to stop crashing to the desktop during a game. I have a AMD based system. With a Radeon Vega 64 GPU. A liquid cooled Ryzen 1700. 32GB ram. When the game plays, it plays gorgeously. And flows pretty well (if the server I'm on isn't lagging or my Inet connection isn't dropping too many packets). I am running graphics quality at "high" now instead of "ultra". Have FFR turned off. As well as other tweaks. After this last update though, the crashing has become more frequent. But, it's behavior has changed a bit. It can still freeze and then dump you back to the desktop. But, now it will also just go blank and dump you to the desktop. I have yet to find an answer in these forums that can fix the issue. You might alleviate it for awhile. But, like a malignant cancer, it comes back. When is EA going to investigate this?

I also get BF V crashing when running DX 12 on AMD with latest driver 18.11.2 . Have edit the profile to be able to load the game.

Same here CTD when DX12 is enabled... AMD drivers are HORRIBLE!

Damn, I am having the same issue, PowerColor Red Dragon RX 580 8GB edition
DX11 runs fine, no issues, DX12, runs much smoother and faster, but crashes almost every time I load up a map, once I do manage, the performance difference is noticeable, but regardless, the game crashes after the round completes.
Latest AMD Drivers, clean install, and brand new windows 10 build (October edition, win version 1809). Multiple re-installs and repairs do not resolve the issue.

Hey, make sure that all drivers for windows and your gpu drivers are up to date.
You can also try to do a clean boot to see if there any programs messing with Battlefield V and turn off any overlay programs for example Discord or Nvidia experience.
Try running a CCleaner to remove old temp files and cache.
Let me know if this works or not for you. 🙂

Im having the same ctd problems with bfv & dx12, runs perfect in dx11 but as soon as 12 is enabled I get ctd's black screen of death, even had it go green screen before, im running latest drivers for every piece of hardware, no I/o conflicts, no irq or memory conflicts, been through my bios a number of times to be sure nothing is overclocked, funny thing is I have elite dangerous and that runs dx12 4k ultra just and does not crash at all, ive ran that game for hours with no crashes, tested far cry 5 too, that also works flawlessly in dx12, so with 2 games from 2 different developers work perfectly what do you think is wrong ?
on another not, can you get them to give us access to vulkan if they are not gonna fix dx12 because that works on other games too and is capable of ray tracing ?
- 7 years agoSame here. New 2080, Win10 1809 with latest drivers in everything including latest Nvidia drivers. Battlefield V works in DX11, crashes immediately after running when DX12 is enabled. 100% repro.

Ditto. 2080Ti 11GB on 7700k...

Same problem here.
Game runs almost fine in DX11, but when I switch to DX12 the game crashes to desktop with no error after 1-5 mins.
Same.. are we just not supposed to run DX12 and RTX then? That would be an absolute shame since this is literally the ONLY game that supports it at this time... C'mon EA/DICE. I had no issues with DX12 and DXR before the November patch. It crashes every single time within 5 minutes ever since that patch.

I have a similar problem. The game can crash unpredictably when DXR is ON. And no matter FFR is on or off. I can play for hours and no problem. And I can only go to the server and get a crash in a couple of minutes. This game may freeze and crash when loading new map. And what is very strange is the fact that EVERY TIME I QUIT THE GAME I get a problem report in the log report: "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered". This issue is observed with the driver 318.91 and no matter whether the video card is overclocked or not. It also does not matter how many times you reinstall the operating system or the game itself, or the driver. Log file will continue to fix nvlddmkm error every time in the moment of leaving the game process.

I can run the game in DX12, but not with DXR and DLSS or just DXR enabled. I have a 2060. With DXR or DLSS enabled the game crashes at the start screen or crashes after about 3 minutes into a game. Really sucks because the first 3 hours after the DXR update, I was getting remarkable performance with everything enabled. Then it just started to crash.

I have the exact problem with dxr on if i quit the game or i minimize it then crashes with no messages and in event viewer i see Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

I have a similar problem. When DX12 is activated, the game crashes after 10-15 seconds after launch. It crashes with and without DXR/DLSS activated.
The only way I can play is when changing the settings file back to DX11.
Running on Windows 1809, RTX 2080.
