Ongoing Crash Dump Issue for 4 Months
Hello Battlefield V Community,
I am experiencing a serious issue with Battlefield V that requires your urgent assistance.
I have been encountering a persistent crash problem in Battlefield V for the past 4-5 months. This issue emerged especially after the anti-cheat update. While playing, the game experiences an abrupt fps drop; fps drops to 0 and then the game closes suddenly as if Alt+F4 was pressed. The occurrence of this issue is unpredictable. It happened 3 times today, but some days it does not happen at all. This issue significantly impacts my gameplay, which now exceeds 600 hours.
To address this issue, I have tried the following steps without success:
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the game from scratch three times using a special uninstaller.
- Reinstalled the EA app from scratch.
- Lowered the graphics settings to the minimum.
- Repeatedly repaired the game files through the EA app.
Currently, I am playing the game at 60 FPS and 120 Hz instead of 120 FPS and 144 Hz. I had to make this change because I initially thought the problem was related to my hardware and took these steps to reduce the system load while playing.
Additionally, I wanted to directly analyze the crash dump files. I examined these files using Windbg, and the detailed analysis revealed the following errors:
Analysis Results:
- Crash Type: Access violation (Memory access error)
- Exception Code: c0000005 - Memory access error
- Error Address: 0000000145955bc2 (bfv!fb::Twinkle::getKeyValueStorage+0x0000000000078b12)
- Write Address: 0000000000000000 (Null Pointer - Memory address 0x00000000)
- Details:
- Exception Flags: 0 (Standard error flags)
- Attempt to write to address: 0000000000000000 (Null Pointer)
- Stack Trace:
- bfv!fb::Twinkle::getKeyValueStorage+0x78b12
- bfv!fb::TwinkleOverlayManager::getState+0x29245
- bfv!fb::JsMessageListener::onJSRegister+0xf28f0
- bfv!fb::Twinkle::getScriptAffinity+0x94c4da
- bfv!fb::JsMessageListener::onJSRegister+0xf6c7f
- bfv!fb::Twinkle::getScriptAffinity+0x95738f
- Crash Condition:
- Write Attempt: Attempt to write to memory address
- Fault: Null pointer dereference (Accessing a null pointer)
- Analysis Results:
- Failure Bucket ID: NULL_POINTER_WRITE_c0000005_bfv.exe!Unknown
- Failure Hash: {d929c084-9568-0ac3-a555-505b0a8e61ef}
All three dumps analyzed today show a memory access violation in the bfv.exe process. I believe the root of the issue lies in the software, and an urgent update is required.
For a more detailed examination of this problem, I am attaching a PNG file containing all the crash dump file analyze I have experienced today (I have bunch of same crush dump files). An in-depth review of these files might provide clearer insights into the root cause and aid in finding a necessary solution.
Additionally, here are my system specifications:
- Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X Matisse 7nm Technology
- RAM: 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1596MHz (16-18-18-38)
- Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. B450M S2H (AM4)
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Gigabyte), 24G1WG4 (1920x1080@144Hz)
- Storage: 931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-08WN4A0 (SATA), 465GB SanDisk Ultra 3D NVMe
I would like to emphasize the urgent need for a resolution to this issue. A new patch is necessary to resolve these errors, as many of my fellow players are also experiencing similar problems. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in this matter.
Thank you very much.
Best regards,

Thanks for your reply. However, I think this solution might be equivalent to "burning" my PC.
Luckily, I checked my BIOS yesterday and noticed that it was still on the 2022 version. Before updating the BIOS, I made some space on my PC and thoroughly uninstalled EA and BF5 using Revo Uninstaller. (You can use another hard removing app)
After that, I deleted the BF5 folder in the Documents section, as well as all the files related to EA, particularly the EA AntiCheat.
These files were located in C -> ProgramData and User -> AppData. (I checked every folder.) I also ended up completely deleting Google Chrome. Yes, without any backup. I’m not exactly sure why I did that, but it happened.
In the end, I updated my BIOS and adjusted my RAM and CPU clocks because the BIOS update reset my settings to factory defaults.
After that, I reinstalled Chrome, EA, and BF5. Once everything was done, I shut down my PC and waited until the next day because it was already late.
The following day, I powered on my PC and launched BF5 as Administrator. And boom—HEADSHOT!
As I mentioned earlier, I had uninstalled and reinstalled BF5 three or four times before, but this time something was different. I played the intro scene! At that point, I knew the problem was solved.
I hope this helps other players facing similar issue.
