Pacific Tanks: HEAT OP, Howitzer Underpowered

While testing out the various upgrades for the Pacific tanks for some time now, I've noticed that the HEAT rounds will take out a tank in 2-3 shots, while the much bigger and more cumbersome howitzer rounds take several shots to destroy the enemy tank. You'd think that with a high arcing, slower shot, and with a shorter distance would cause immense damage. But, there's barely an upside with the howitzer relative to the base or alternative rounds. Even when it comes to its splash damage, it seems to be very minimal. I'm not necessarily expecting a Sturmtiger level of splash damage, but it doesn't seem to even be half that.

In essence, I propose we make the current howitzer round do the same damage as the current HEAT round, while roughly doubling the splash damage and/or radius. The HEAT round should be nerfed but be the second strongest round.

Thoughts?

  • I myself have raged over this exact problem over and over again as you probably have, but being a WAr Thunder die hard fan I know that there is an immence difference between the HEAT rounds and either the APCR or HESH rounds the Howitzer can shoot. The HEAt rounds are supposed to deal this huge damage to enemy armored vehicles but I will agree with it needs a little nerf, whereas the APCR round are good against heavily armored vehicles(only) and HESH round do deal damage to armor but are supposed to be especially efficient in destroying destructable walls and surfaces as well as kill infantry. I beilive the HESH rounds are the ones th Howitzer fires and do indeed need a small buff. My propasal is to stick to using the HEAT round until they either get nerfed or the Howitzer gets buffed 🙂
