Poor hardware utilization and issue with pre-rendered frames

When future frame rendering is off,  there is low frame rate with poor CPU and GPU utilization.  The only way to get a good frame rate is with FFR set to on, but this introduces input lag and stuttering/hitching in DX11.  This is not an issue with BF1 and I do not remember having this issue in the beta.

I am running the latest driver with a 2080 Ti and 9900K.  So, there is no bottleneck on my end.  This seems to be an issue with the rendering engine or something at the driver level.  This is also widespread as there are multiple topics in the general discussion and PC sub-forums. Please fix ASAP.

I am experiencing the same issue with a 1080(70/80% usage), lowering settings below "high settings" gives no noticeable fps increase for me .(Vsync is OFF, FFR is OFF ,and the 4 settings like chrometic are OFF Ress =UHD)

Like you mentioned the utilization goes to 99% with FFR on but results in choppy gameplay and input lag.

Currently playing with all settings on low and still hovering between 40-58 fps ,i have added 2 screens of msi afterburner log . gameplay starts about 2 min in Map = Devastation.

  • Hi, yes currently for most users pre-rendered frames enabled is recommended as it gives more consistent frame times.

The extra input lag doesn't seem to be noticeable so I would run with it enabled until one of the many upcoming patches hopefully improves the situation.

Also, here's an article on why Future Frame Rendering is not as broken as you might think: https://www.reddit.com/r/BattlefieldV/comments/9vte98/future_frame_rendering_an_explanation/?utm_source=reddit-android

  • My VEGA 64 is only utilized 45% (750 Mhz) when removing Future Frame Buffering. I thought it would improve responsiveness but it took FPS in half??

Having pre-rendered frames, by default, adds input lag.Saying the input lag is not noticeable is subjective. I, like many others, experience input lag. The fact that users must play with FFR on (to have decent frames) is concerning and the developers must address this issue. There is no excuse for this kind of performance, it is a shame.
