Xbox Support:

" I have checked here that your trial game is still active. It is possible that since you have an active license of the game, the console is detecting the trial not the full game."

" I will return the trial game first , and that should revoke the license of the game."

" After that , kindly remove the disc and restart your console and after that, try to use the disc again , and let us see if it will work"

I have also confirmed that the trial version's license is already revoked." 

I am at work, so I cant check now. However, this seems to be only possible way for you all. 

During the chat with Xbox Support, you can show them this post, they will know, I did the same with that first link.

  • Please let us know if this works, I am really disappointed that EA hasn't offered much help with this issue.

    I came home and it works. 

    I deleted my saves just for being sure before I started the game. Firstly, I got a xbox warning that My licence was rejected but I can play it after that. 

  • You have to contact the Xbox Support directly, I used website. They will do it. It is some database error, that the Trial License is not revoked automatically. 

  • Can anyone else confirm this and that they have had success? I will try it on Friday. I am really disappointed EA hasn't been much help on this.

    Having the same problem. Tried the Remove Home Xbox thing, didn't work. Tried reenabling it, didn't work. Now i have 3 switches available. Played the trial when it launched and decided to get the game disk, and now i can't play a game i own. What a joke...

    Edit1: also tried deleting the savefile + reserved space. When game started i stopped synch so to create a new save. No dice (pun intended). Game still thinks i'm a trial player. I had also tried reinstalling the game previously and hard resetting the console, etc. Nothing works.

    I refuse to go through the hoops of microsoft's or ea's tech support. I don't have the time nor patience to deal with this kind of bs. If this isn't fixed by the weekend, or at least aknowledged by ea, i will just return my copy and go back to BF1.

    Edit2: ok ate my words. I'm trying Xbox support. Will update with whatever comes of it.

    Edit3: Spoke with a rep named Sweet. I told them all the troubleshooting i already done and thankfully they didn't ask me to do it all again. I referenced this thread and they told me they cancelled the trial on my account, but it should take a while to refresh, about an hour. As i ended the chat i tried it again just for kicks and the error persists. I'm off to sleep, will try again tomorrow when i'm back from work.

    Edit4: just tested it this morning. Guess what? Yep, didn't work. Game still thinks i'm a trial player. What a load of bs. Rep said they cancelled the trial on my account.

    Edit5: Contacted support again at work. This time they checked and confirmed that the trial had been canceled on my account but it still showed in my "entitlements". Not sure how that works. They asked me to wait for a few mins and came back confirming that it was now fully revoked. Then told me to delete EVERY profile from my Xbox and redownload then after clearing cache and mac adress. Will try all that once i get home from work and return with results.

    I guess it worked as he completely forgot about posting here again. Guys, you have to contact XBOX CHAT SUPPORT. It is the only way. 

  • I didn't forget to post here. I came home tired from work and after trying a lot of stuff i just needed some rest. Contacting support didn't exactly work. I did everything they told me to, including removing all the profiles from my console and downloading them again (which is annoying cause now i have to redownload all my savefiles whenever i boot a game).

    What DID work though is removing my Xbox as home in every profile. After that i tried the game and it worked, managed to play a few matches. As soon as i set my xbox to home again, the trial issue came back. So the only way to play is by not having my license on my home console. This is NOT ideal at all, i have upwards of 100 digital games installed and i often play offline when traveling or when i lose internet connection due to service issues. And it's not like you can just do it whenever you want since you have 5 switches per year.

    Again just the fact that i had to go through this to play the game is a problem. Many players who downloaded the trial and then bought the disc will probably face this. I hope EA or Microsoft take notice and work on a permanent fix.

  • Thanks for the update. I am at a point where I am done trying everything under the sun just to be able to play a game that I bought and paid for. EA seriously needs to step up and address this issue as it has been crickets from them so far. This extremely disappointing, I have many EA titles and never had any issues but I will certainly think twice before buying the next EA game.

  • I was frustrated with not being able to play too. Had the same problems with downloading the trial version and buying the game afterwards. I found my solution that hasn't been discussed by anybody yet. I set my xbox one as NOT HOME XBOX and that didn't work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that didn't work. What worked is going under settings on your xbox dashboard and going to updates and updating my xbox console manually. Tried multiplayer and it worked like a charm. It's been 3 days and I've been able to play everyday. Please give it a try seeing how it takes less than 10 minutes and it worked for me. Wanted to make sure it continued to work before posting. Hope this helps.

    Definitive Solution:

    Hello everyone, I speak English a little, but I will try to make it clear to everyone. The definitive solution does not depend on EA, it depends on Xbox Support.

    If you make the Xbox not my home Xbox, the game works and you have full access, multiplayer, ect. If you go back to making the console my home Xbox the game goes back to trial right? 

    And that problem persists because the Trial license has not been revoked from your Xbox account or console. The solution is to contact Xbox support and follow the steps to access live chat or phone call. They will eliminate your trial license and problem solved. Recognize the full game.

    Steps for 

    1) Make your xbox "My home Xbox" 

    Contact Xbox Support.As a note: To access live chat or call,  you have to follow a few steps. I'll just give it as clear as possible. So

    2) Go contact Xbox Support.

    3) Choose a Category: Xbox One

    4) Ask us a Question: Virtual Agent 

    5) Tell him the problem: the xbox not recognize my game blah blah blah...

    6) The most importan part is whe he ask you: Did this solve your problem? Tell him No and He will give you the option to talk to a person

    7) Select Xbox One, then select Issue: another account issues and and the live chat and call options appear.

    So, Then, explain the problem and tell him or  tell her specifically to check the license of trial version and revoke it. That resolved my problem or the problem

    And you can use you BFV disc with your xbox as "My home Xbox"

    Thanks for the info. It also looks like EA has extended a 1 month free trial to EA Access which I was able to use to play the game. If you get the trial message just hit upgrade and you should see the free trial. I am guessing they did this to help those of us with this problem. The sad part is you think someone from EA would have come on hear and announced it. I have to say the support from EA has been unbelievably pathetic.

    My xbox is always set to update manually, is i like to keep track of the dashboard updates and game's patches.

    @cavanoreilly The solution: contact Xbox support, They will eliminate your trial license and problem solved. Recognize the full game.

    Contacting the Italian XBOX Support didn't work for me as I am gamesharing on EA Access.
    They say there is no active BFV trial for my gamertag on their systems.

    Please fix this, I haven't been able to play the game for weeks

    Summarize your bug Downloaded battlefield V through game pass and it keeps saying I’m a trial player. I’m using another account which I bought the game pass under and that account is able to play multiplayer.
    How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
    Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Buy the game pass under a different account and set it as home Xbox while using a different account to play.
    What happens when the bug occurs? Unable to play multiplayer
    What should be happening instead? Able to play multiplayer
