Request: Final Stand as a Standalone Mode, or Day 3 Timer Adjustment

In all my time playing BFV since its launch in 2018, I've only played Final Stand a handful of times until recently when I decided to work towards unlocking the gold Final Stand dog tag. Even then, it's ridiculously difficult to find myself in a game that arrives at a Day 4 opportunity. I do understand the purpose of Final Stand - a "sudden death" mode for the relatively rare occasion where both teams have gone the distance without a clear, definitive winner. However, it's actually a really fun mode and IMHO it deserves a standalone mode across most, if not all, maps. Bringing back a "last man standing" mode would be a great, fun change of pace that isn't as time consuming as Firestorm.

If a standalone Final Stand mode is not an option, then please loosen up the conditions for Day 4 to occur. For instance, on Aerodrome the attackers must reach the final sector, have the timer run out, fail to cap, and have at least 1 ticket remaining. On paper, it seems like it would not be an uncommon situation. But it is. Why? The timer resets to 27 min for the very last sector when you've gone the same amount of time for each preceding sector (108 minutes total or, if you go the distance, > 112 total minutes if you include retreat and round start times).

So my proposal is to at least:

  • Reduce the timer by 12 minutes at the last sector of Day 3 for Operation Battle Axe
  • Reduce the timer by 6 minutes for Day 3 of Fall of Norway
  • Reduce the timer by 3 minutes for Day 3 of Raid on Rotterdam and Battle for France, and only on the last sector of Battle of Hannut

Any thoughts?

Note: Here are the current requirements for Final Stand to trigger for the respective Grand Operations, with the current timer values in bold:

Battle for France

Day 4 - Final Stand: Requires both teams destroying the same amount of objectives by end of Day 3 - Frontlines on Arras (20 14-minute timer)

Battle of Hannut

Day 4 - Final Stand: Requires timer or reinforcements running out at sector 4 with defenders having at least 1 unarmed objective by end of Day 3 - Rush Large on Arras (10-minute timer on last sector)

*Note: there is a grace period in which Attackers can still lose all tickets at the last sector and make it to Day 4, if only a few or so minutes remain. If time still remains and Day 4 triggers, a single tank will spawn next to the church closest to the British side. If time runs out and Day 4 triggers, then 2 tanks will spawn - 1 tank spawning closest to each team. All tanks are Crocodiles.

Fall of Norway

Day 4 - Final Stand: Requires both teams having at least 1 ticket when time runs out by end of Day 3 - Conquest on Fjell (30-minute timer)

Operation Battle Axe

Day 4 - Final Stand: Requires timer running out at Sector 4 with attackers having at least 1 ticket by end of Day 3 - Breakthrough on Aerodrome (27-minute timer on last sector)

Raid on Rotterdam

Day 4 - Final Stand: Requires both teams destroying the same amount of objectives by end of Day 3 - Frontlines on Devastation (20 14-minute timer)

  • Very reasonable. I've gotten to 4 times - every single time I was on the winning team and switched to the losing team on the final day; of course it's an absolute massacre where nobody on the other team dies...

I'm an assignment/ dog tag collector myself, but I have given up on the final stand one. I played that mode 2 times in 400 hours of playtime.

I would really like to have it as a standalone game mode. You could add this like SaD from cod. Playing several rounds and the first team to 5 points wins.

  • Not to mention, the round start timer needs to be reduced from 1 minute to (at most) 30 seconds. It's already a really long mode and most people don't want to wait any longer than they have to, since there's another wait during the transition in between each day.

It also makes perfectly good sense to add an option to completely skip the end of Grand Operation cinematic so that I can go straight to the End of Round summary screen. This is not something that only I want, but everyone I play with wants this option added.

Also, if Final Stand ends up in a time wherein it's say, 1-1 and the timer runs out, then is it a tie? If so, then it defeats the purpose of a sudden death mode. It should go to another Final Stand, Day 5, right? And another tie goes to Day 6, etc. 🙂

And, Day 3 on Devastation and Arras Frontlines mode is 14 minutes now. I don't know if this change was implemented a while ago, as it was 20 min at launch. If it was 14 minutes long recently then that's good, and I can test it out to see how often Day 4 happens. If it was an older change back in the first half of 2019 or so, then it's still too long. Maybe drop the time by at least 3-4 minutes.
