Severe performance issues in BF5 on good rig..help please!

Hi guys,

I have a really strange issue in BF 5 and at this point I am at a total loss what to do.

My system is the following:

Win 10

I7 4Ghz

16 GB Ram

GeForce 1080

Game is running from a SSD

Every other recent game runs smoothly on high settings on this rig (as it should, considering the components). However when I start BF5 and join a full server my frames drop to a constant 15 frames (FIFTEEN FRAMES). Nothing can change this value, Dx11/12, Vsync on/off, Preloading frames on/off, settings to ultra/low…NOTHING CHANGES

However when I play the warstories (the singleplayer part) I have constant 90+ frames, so I thing this must come from the online part somehow. Also when I manually select servers that are empty my framerate is fine as well, however the more players join the lower it gets (although those playermodels aren’t visible at that point) up until the point of the initially mentioned 15 frames.

I have no idea what is causing this issue, I just was able to narrow it down to the amount of players on the server. I would appreciate any input to this matter, because it is driving me crazy! Thanks a lot in advance!

  • Hey, @aR1dion,  make sure that all drivers for windows and your GPU drivers are up to date.

You can also try to do a clean boot to see if there any programs messing with Battlefield V and turn off any overlay programs for example Discord, MSI afterburner or Nvidia experience.

Try running a CCleaner to remove old temp files and cache.

Let me know if this works or not for you. 🙂

My rig is almost exactly like yours, only with a 1070

Also get those same issues, stuck at 11 fps when the match starts and players start moving, single player runs perfectly. Even lowering the rendering to 30% has zero effect on fps, feels like an errant frame cap of some sorts.

    @EA_Atic

The above is excactly the same as my issue...it runs fine even in game BEFORE the game starts and the second everyone is allowed to move BOOOOM 100 fps goes down to 15

This issue is surely not related to the possible performance of the hardware, this must be something related to the moment the server starts the match.

I also did a clean install of the graphic drivers (via DDU) and a clean boot and a registry cleanup, nothing affects this issue the slightest....this is really frustrating right now
