Shadowplay and Battlefield's launch window

Hello!

I have spent the last hour or so trying to figure out why my Battlefield V videos are recording at 1280x720 despite my in-game resolution being 2560x1440. After some testing, I am pretty sure it is because Battlefield is launching in a window that is 1280x720 before applying my resolution of 2560x1440. As a result, Shadowplay is reading the first resolution and doesn't change it after that and so is stuck at 720p.

A workaround to this issue has been to turn Shadowplay off and back on at the main menu, but this is easy to forget and it is disappointing when my videos come out at a cruddy resolution.

Normally I'd be contacting Nvidia for this kind of junk, but I haven't had this issue with other games because no other game I play launches the way that Battlefield does. This is also separate from the video corruption issue which Nvidia is aware of and making a fix for.

EDIT: Here is the fix.

  1. Navigate to where bfv.exe is (Usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield V), create a file named user.cfg, and hit yes to the warning. You will have to change your view to show file name extensions.
  2. Edit the user.cfg file, add these lines, and save the file (change out my resolution with yours):
    1. Window.Height 1440
    2. Window.Width 2560
  3. Open the Origin client, right-click on Battlefield V and select "Game Properties".
  4. Click the tab "Advanced Launch Options" and in the "Command line arguments" textbox, copy/type this line and save:
    1. -noborder

Yes, this was a Problem with BF1 too.

That changes to the user.cfg should be enough, as I play on Fullscreen.

    Thanks

  • If you do not make it borderless the recordings get clipped at the bottom of the screen. In my case, it was 20 pixels cut off.
