The anti-cheat crashes my PC

When I play BFV or BF1, but somehow doesn't seem like an issue with BF2042. It only started happening since yesterday and wasn't an issue before.

my PC crashes almost everytime I close the game, regardless of how I close it; closing it with the quit button/alt+f4/the taskbar. It turns my screen black and reboots my PC.

I am 100% sure this is an issue with the anticheat as I was crashing before when simply installing the anticheat or launching the game, which I fixed it by using "open as admin", launch it once and it was fixed.

I've read from another post that this issue could be caused by memory integrity being on/off, which I tried both ways, and it didn't fix it.

I've also read that some drivers could be conflicting with the anticheat, some Asus drivers specifically but I don't have an Asus, I have an Alienware PC (which also has its own drivers). I wouldn't be surprised if this is the main issue. Either way, my PC shouldn't fully crash from an anti-cheat program scanning my files -- Do better, EA.

P.S: this is on a fresh Windows 11 install with only EA Desktop installed and Battlefield V.

Other people with this issue:

Exiting the game causes pc to reboot??? : r/BattlefieldV

Whenever i open the game it restarts my whole pc (steam) : r/Battlefield

Specs:

AMD 7700x cpu/4080 gpu/4800mhz ram (Alienware R15) Windows 11 24h2

We deployed a fix just now for users who had this issue on BF1 and BFV. You should only need to restart the game, there won't be a client update or anything else needed.

  • Guys, what worked for me is switching my PC's power mode to Normal (was High Performance) before. Just search for power mode and try this. I tried everything else and this actually worked in the end.

As many users have already stated, the anti-cheat is causing a whole lot of issues regarding system stability. Not just when playing a game, but this already starts with opening the EA app. In my case, I open the EA app which then flashes my screen from black back to the desktop page. The anti-cheat software then proceeds to switch off my fans/pump of the system (starting with the iCUE software and then on hardware level), meaning if left unattended my pc would simply die. By the time the fans are off it switches off my usb ports. Event viewer is showing Hanging Events for the hardware software. However, the system is also showing that Windows ETW sessions regarding sensor data collection are causing excessive logging activity when the EA app is launched, which results in the system to hang (the final part many users experience).
