Video Settings Causing reset on change. Makes me restart Prologue.

When I attempted to change video settings, it requests to reset the game (as expected). On reset however, the game reset me to the start of the game where I had to reset the brightness, and run through the prologue again instead of just taking me to the main menu. I could exit it once I landed in the first part in Norway, but it reset all my customized settings each time.

I noticed it happened when I changed both the basic and advanced settings. I suspect what triggers the issue is when I try and enable DX12 and attempt to input custom graphics quality settings.

Here are my PC specs as well if this will help. I run a one PC setup (for streaming):

CPU: i7-7700K 4.2 GHz

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

RAM: 32GB G.Skill RIPJAW

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-H270M-D3H

Adding this info:

This could happen to players that upload all their data to the Microsoft OneDrive and then delete everything in the local document folder. Windows would replace the local document folder with a shortcut to the OneDrive document.

EDIT: This is a workaround, it treats the symptom but not the cause of the error. I suggest trying the other things I proposed as solutions in the thread first.

Oh, I almost forgot, in the beta there was also reported the following workaround:

Once you go exit the game after having set your settings, try going to:

Documents\Battlefield V\settings

and if it's there delete the:

"_tmp" part

of the

"PROFSAVE_tmp" file.

This might also do it.

If this is your issue then this would have to be repeated every time you change settings.

Hey Farfromidle,

The game configuration files are to be stored locally in the 'My Document' folder. If for some reason you are using a network point or cloud storage for these files the game will always start in prologue.

I tried two ways as you mentioned, both local and cloud. The problem was not fixed

Both local and cloud don't work. All things are reset and play the prologue again and again. The same question happened in open data, and it happened again now

I have the same problem and its driving me fkn crazy! i replayed that prologue 4 times already and im about to go mad. pls sm1 fix this *

If you go to your My Documents then open up the BFV > Settings folder, how many files can you see?

Can you try renaming PROFSAVE_tmp to PROFSAVE and see if that has any effect?

I only had the battlefield 5 open beta folder :O I deleted it and i'll see if it creates new one

Battlefield V saves the settings in the Documents\BattlefieldV folder. Antivirus, security programs or user settings can all block the access for BFV to create or edit these files. The most typical one is the Windows 10 setting --> "Controlled folder access":
You want it to be off or allow Origin and BFV through.
