Weird input lag

Hello guys,

I have really reached dead end here. I am experiencing from time to time weird input lag when playing BF 5. Sometimes the game runs smoothly and than it starts doing this input lag that is sooo heavy that is is basically unplayable. Then it randomly stops and starts again. Everything in my surrounding seems to move normally just my character is having issues.

I have i7 4790k and GTX 980ti, 20GB ram. Wired keyboard and wireless mouse. I have to say that this issue is not appearing on BF 1 at all as I consider this games very similar it is super weird.

I have tried changing resolutions/details/dx11/12, updating nvidia drivers. I have also tried enabling/disabling future frame rendering, vsync. I have even tried to move my game from SSD to HDD. Nothing seems to have long term effect. Sometimes the lag happens more often sometimes less.

I am planning to update bios as well as all the drivers from motherboard and processor and I will see if this helps. Would you be able to give me some other advice on how to fix this issue? I can guarantee that the issue is not because of internet because I have tried to play on optical internet and than did wifi hotspot from the phone and it is the same. Also as already mentioned BF1 is just fine.

Thank you very much for any piece of advice.

Hey, I did not have FPS drop actually, everything else around me was going fine just the character had input lag. You can ignore this discussion as I have just upgraded to new PC where this issue does not occure.

I've noticed @LuksoSK  that after every driver update NVIDIA control panel has been setting many of my settings in the control panel back to the highest possible instead of a balanced or performance oriented profile so it might benefit you looking into that area.

I will double check that but dont you think that this issue should appear also in other games like BF1?

When playing can you turn on a performance network graph and see if there any thing changing when it goes from good to bad? @LuksoSK

  • I had an issue with my GTX970 and certain version of drivers a few months back. I've since upgraded to a 2080 so I can't test but it might be something to look into. I had a pretty severe FPS drop that felt like input lag in BFV only and not in BF1. Do you know what FPS (Frames Per Second) you are getting? At times I dropped into the 20s and 30s with my driver issue. Normal with same settings was around 65.
If you don't have FPS turned on you can try the following:
    Open Origin client.
Top left of the client should "Origin"
Click that and choose Application Settings
Look for Origin In-Game settings and set Display FPS Counter to a location and it should turn it on.
It might be slightly different location because I did that from memory but it will get you close.

Might not a be the solution but something to look into maybe.

but i am still wondering why the hell it was lagging on the previous one :D I hope that it will not happen again.

Really nice rig, I have seen getting more raw power with CPU helps a lot. 🙂 @LuksoSK
