keep in mind, his is a company that made 7.6 Billion in revenue last year. They can more than afford the rights to just about anything.
I'm with you BUT
if you were running a company, and some dead widow or their fam tries to suck 1 mil+ outta sales for use of their fathers hard work:
a) would you pay up just for ONE STADIUM?
b) you think Metallica is only getting 1 mil (or w/e the going rate is??) you're talking about the group that killed file sharing
c) 7.6 in profits or revenue? Subtract costs of op from rev, obv. But even still, assuming 7.6 as profits, all 7.6 isn't allocated to Madden/NCAA/ or even EA sports in general... it's a big company with lots of separate houses to make happy...
EDIT: after research... the STATE of WV owns the rights to that song, apparently... Learned that HERE..... With all the gov firings and lack of people to talk to in that area, who or where would you even start to figure out HOW to get and wrap up the rights? Throw in that WV isn't the wealthiest state and will try to make EA buy the farm at some point during that negotiation...

Maybe its just me, maybe i'm way to cynical, but I am willing to put money down that they didnt even attempt to have it in game. This is a company (although the college football franchise is slightly different) that has made a fortune off of doing the absolute bare minimum when it comes to sequels in ip's. I mean look at the madden franchise, fifa/fc ip's, and NHL as a guide. All have shown very little in terms of improvements for a decade or more.
Which Is why i don't think the attempt was even made. Sure for the big name schools they will go out of their way, but for the mid tier schools like WVU (for now, because rich rod), the effort simply isnt there. Hell, look at the hack job they did for Hawaii (where i was stationed and a fun dynasty build)
