High School Moments on Heisman weirdness
So I expect the difficulty to destroy me as a newerish player, which it did. Numerous times. Good job there. There's the usual EA Tiburon AI weirdness but if that were a dealbreaker I wouldn't have gotten the game although I do wish that some NPC players made better decisions than someone who just started football would. IE: the HB intentionally missing the hole to run into the line, which happens a lot when using run plays while not controlling the HB in RtG.
No, the weird part is that once you go to college all of the Heisman restrictions are gone. You can restart all the practice minigames at any point, even in position battles (where you would expect the Ironman part of the Heisman difficulty to stick), making it trivially easy to just restart until you win the position battle. However, you cannot restart/retry at any point your High School Moments - despite the coach mentioning you can (as you can in lower difficulties). It feels, to me, it should be one or the other. Either make Heisman a dedicated Ironman mode where you cannot restart, or ease up a bit on that during High School Moments.
There's also severe dissonance where the coach is guiding you through your senior year, but you're given full control of play calls, audibles, hot routes, pass protection adjustments, etc. despite your position on offense. Which makes the mode feel weird because a WR/HB usually won't be calling plays or adjusting their route just because. Considering how execution heavy these moments would need to be, maybe a tighter experience centering on the player themselves executing rather than them figuring out just how to game the system to succeed would be more interesting. It takes a lot of coach trust in College for your coach to allow you to do this, but you get the keys to the kingdom immediately in High School? Despite still having a lot of football to learn? That part doesn't hit right for me.
