Re: Game Crashing [Info Requested]
Platform: Xbox Series X (Digital Download)
Game: EA Sports College Football 26
Mode: All modes (observed primarily in gameplay, e.g., Dynasty, Road to Glory)
Frequency: Intermittent but persistent (occurs every few minutes to a full game)
Issue Type: Game Freeze/Crash to Dashboard
Description of Problem:
Since downloading and installing EA Sports College Football 26 on my Xbox Series X, the game consistently crashes during gameplay. This issue occurs regardless of the game mode I'm playing. The issue does not occur during menu navigation.
The crash manifests as follows:
* Freeze: The game completely freezes, becoming unresponsive to controller input. This can happen during live action (e.g., mid-play, after a tackle) or during menu navigation within a game (e.g., selecting a play from the playbook).
* Unresponsive Input: During the freeze, the game itself does not respond to controller input, but my Xbox controller still allows me to navigate the Xbox Guide menu.
* Manual Quit/Crash: While frozen, I am able to press the Xbox button on my controller, navigate to the main action menu for CFB26, and select "Quit game." If I do not manually quit, the game will eventually crash on its own, returning me to the Xbox dashboard.
* Inconsistent Timing: The period between the initial freeze and the eventual crash (or my manual quit) varies. Similarly, the amount of time I can play before a crash occurs also varies with each new reboot of the game. Sometimes it's a few minutes into a game, other times I might get through a full quarter or even a whole game before it happens again, only for the issue to return shortly after.
Steps to Reproduce:
* Launch EA Sports College Football 26.
* Start any gameplay session (e.g., Play Now, Dynasty game, Road to Glory).
* Play the game normally.
* The game will unpredictably freeze during live action or play selection, leading to the aforementioned crash.
Troubleshooting Steps Already Attempted (No Resolution):
I have already performed extensive troubleshooting, none of which has resolved the issue:
* Console Restarts: Multiple full restarts of the Xbox Series X.
* Hard Resets: Performed several hard resets (unplugging the console from the wall for at least 30 seconds).
* Game Reinstallation: Uninstalled and reinstalled EA Sports College Football 26 multiple times.
* Clear Persistent Storage: Cleared the Blu-Ray Persistent Storage multiple times in Xbox settings.
* Clear Alternate MAC Address: Cleared the Alternate MAC Address in Xbox network settings.
* Deleted Local Save Data: Deleted all local save data for CFB26 from the console (keeping cloud saves intact), then allowed the game to re-sync.
* Checked for Console Updates: Confirmed my Xbox Series X is fully up to date with the latest system software.
* Checked for Game Updates: Confirmed EA Sports College Football 26 is updated to the latest available version.
* Internet Disconnect Test: Attempted playing offline (e.g., exhibition mode) with the console disconnected from the internet, but the crashes still occurred.
Additional Information:
* All other digitally downloaded games on my Xbox Series X run without any crashing issues. This problem appears to be specific to EA Sports College Football 26.
* There are multiple reports from other Xbox Series X users experiencing identical crashing behavior with this game, suggesting a widespread issue.
This issue makes the game virtually unplayable, and it's extremely frustrating given it's a brand-new, highly anticipated title. Any assistance or information regarding a potential fix or upcoming patch would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and support.
