Re: Offline progression should not be monetized

In the closed beta forums, I complained about the unnecessarily restrictive progression system, specifically in RTG. With the surprise microtransactions, these systems make much more sense. I know it’s likely not the devs, but the EA higher execs pushing this, but what a slap in the face to consumers. We should have known better given the greedy nature of this company, but I’m somehow still shocked by this move. The on field game play feels great and there’s a solid framework. The team builder updates are still incredibly underwhelming. I remember building immersive, detailed, fully customized teams in FIFA, INSIDE OF THE GAME ITSELF, yet we’re relying on a buggy, barebones website to build teams. RTG is unbelievably stale, especially considering the restrictive builds and senseless 2K style progression. Our high school teammates don’t even wear as much as gloves, the scenarios are virtually unchanged, starting as a low recruit is useless, and the mode feels pretty pointless. For dynasty and the game as a whole, the menus are slow and seem less intuitive than the previous two years. They’re hard to read and slow to navigate.

It’s unfortunate to see such promise with gameplay and dynasty improvements slandered by greed and lack of polish. What a joke.
