Why is my coach wearing a helmet?

I don't know if this happening to anyone else, but after my coach got hired by Texas Tech, when we ran out for our first game, my coach was wearing a helmet and a mouthpiece. I would really like to have fully customizable coaches, but that is not quite what I had in mind.
