Issues I've Noticed with RTG and Gameplay

For the most part the game plays well; but there are some frustrating things that occur that make it very annoying. I play as QB on the Oregon Ducks on PS5.

  1. WR's are not nearly as good at catching as DBs. I have INTs set at 15 on Heisman and there are far too many times my WR does not even attempt to catch the ball or the DB jumps on the pass before the receiver even knows the ball is coming his way. On top of this, when there is a contested catch nearly 90% of the time the WR drops the ball! The receiver should be better at catching than that. I have catching at 99 by the way. I also have Pass Coverage at 80 and don't want to lower that. There are far too many dropped passes especially when the WR's jersey gets barely brushed by a defensive player.
  2. There have been several times when I went to press X (or whatever indicator) and absolutely NOTHING happens! Then, in panic I press X again but often by then it is too late and it gets intercepted, falls incomplete, or I get sacked -- all because the game didn't let me pass when I first wanted to do so. This happened with 26 too and I was hoping it would have been resolved by now.
  3. There has been many times during the course of the season where, in a game, I would be taken out and put on the sideline and then I would watch MYSELF on the field throw or hand off the ball. Then I would come in if the chains moved or stay out if they didn't. That needs fixed as well, please.
  4. There are too many times when I pass to a WR and he does not attempt to catch the ball, but the DB never fails to try.
  5. The DBs have far too often ran my WRs route as if they knew what that route was going to be before the ball is even snapped. I have hot-routed a WR to get him to a more open space and the DB would run the route. As I often anticipate my WRs breaks and throw on that, I have been INTd because the DB would run my WRs route (directly in front of him, slowing him down at times), break when my WR was supposed to break (and who doesn't at times), and then catch the ball.
  6. Pass interference is not sensitive enough even at 99-100. I have had DBs get directly in the way of the WR and/or tackle him before he can catch the ball.
  7. I have had defenders become Usain Bolt and find an unnatural burst of speed to pass my receiver (who never gets that) to knock down the ball or intercept it. The game needs to let things play out naturally, not determine outcomes before they happen. If a DB is a certain distance behind a WR, he should not be able to make up that distance faster than the WR who is already ahead of him to knock the ball out or INT it. But because it seems when a pass indicator button is pressed the game determines the outcome, it causes defenders to gain extra speed or abilities to ensure the outcome occurs. This should not be the case. Or at least, it needs to be less obvious.

    8. The halftime show where it shows the game scores around the country goes by so fast you have no time at all to actually view the scores and stats. This makes having this in the game useless. I enjoy seeing what's going on around the country but because the cut scene is so short you can't. What needs to be done is have the halftime show end on the cut scene and we press X to advance to the second half, that way we have all the time we want to view game stats around the country. It would also be nice to have a feature in the Pause menu that allows you to check on game stats whenever you want.

    9. For this and Dynasty, please bring back the option to play and/or simulate any CPU game in the season. I like simming ranked teams to see who wins, and then wonder how that's going to influence their ranking. The way it is now there is no mystery or suspense like in NCAA Football 14 and earlier. I could sim a CPU game against an unranked team and the #1 team, see the #1 team get beat, and then wonder how far they'll fall. Right now you have to advance the entire weekend to see it and by then there's no wondering at all because the ranking already changed.

    10. Since I'm on it the last thing I can think of for now is seeing a history of team records like we have in 14. I always enjoyed seeing a new coach bring a team that always finished 4-8 for the year grow to have successive seasons of 6, 8, or more wins.

    11. Finally, in depth career coaching stats would be great to have. We have a very basic coaching stat page, but no real coach profile where you can see their historical season-by-season record, records with previous teams, and current team. It'd be nice to have that.

Just lost the Big 10 Championship because I went to throw to a wide open WR, pressed O to pass it, QB didn't pass it, then passed it and naturally it was intercepted. I am so tired of quickly trying to get the ball out and NOTHING happens resulting in interceptions and lost games. This never happened with any of the old games. Everytime I've ever tried to pass the ball on NCAAF 14 or earlier games the QB always passed the ball, but with these three new games this happens incredibly too often. If I want to pass the ball immediately after hiking the ball I do not care if the QB isn't set or receivers aren't ready or whatever programming excuse causes it; the QB should throw the ball. I don't care if I lose a game naturally or from my own mistakes, but it is extremely frustrating when I lose a game because of glitches and issues inherent with the game itself. I was having a great game battling Ohio State too until stupid things like this happened on the final drive.

  • Unfortunately, this is what happens when a predatory company like EA Sports takes over such a beloved game. They dont care about their consumers. They care about profits. Thats why they tried to hide microtransactions. They knew how it would be received, so they didnt tell anyone - including the game ambassadors. Additionally, im fairly certain that the game's AI system has artificial difficulty spikes. I belive this was intentional and was intended to influence players to utilize the microtransaction system. Think about it. You've been grinding and upgrading your player as best you can. Maybe you went to a school like ohio state or oregon and you happen to be playing FCS South East. Your difficulty is set to heisman. FCS goes on to drop 35 points on you and almost completely shut down your offense. I mean you cant run the ball because the defense lives in your backfield. You cant pass tge ball because tge wrs either drop or dont attempt to catch the pass. The dbs possess superhuman speed and intercept pass they have no business getting to. So now you're frustrated and pissed off, because thats what this game was designed to do, and you see those nicrotransactions sitting there. I hate EA for this. They ruined what could have been the rebirth of a truly incredible game in the name of money when they could have had both. Unfortunately, it will probably remain like this for the foreseeable future because EA effectively has a monopoly on the rights for colleges for gaming purposes. Their lawyers have found a loophole to do this, which is a slap in the face of antitrust laws for this very reason. Because companies like this cannot be trusted to bed there only ones operating within a specific market.
