2 files failed to validate, will be re-acquired

C&C Remastered (purchased via Steam) continues to crash during gameplay.  I've gone into Steam, verified the integrity of the game files and keep getting the message "2 files failed to validate, will be re-acquired."  Ok.  Close Steam, restart computer and . . . still the same problem.  Go back to verify integrity of game files, get same message that 2 files will be re-acquired, and problem persists.  How do I get these files fixed?
