Alt-tab issue on Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3

So I had been suffering this alt-tab problem on C&C: Red Alert 3 and would like to really get to the bottom of this. Perhaps telling EA to bring back Westwood or get a modder to patch the game. Also, telling users to avoid alt-tabbing isnt very sound technical support....

Anyways, everytime I alt-tab by accident and attempt to return to game, it becomes minimized to a bar showing only the desktop despite my cursor being in-game. At this point, im unable to click on desktop as if im back at the pause menu. Cant summon task manager to kill game as it is locked from interaction by the game's Windows tab. Pressing Windows only allows me to interact with the Windows Start menu, exit the menu and im back to square one. The only saving grace here is that im somehow able to "crash" the game by blindly clicking the game's pause menu buttons while on desktop view. Regardless of which button I click, it automatically closes the game. 

EA, pls fix. Red Alert 3 is an amazing game.
