Have you linked your original account to your email address? If you haven't, you can do that by going to Settings - Link Account in-game.
Once you've linked your account, use the Link Account feature on your second device, using the same email. Once you've done that, you should see the option to select your original account.

Nothing worked until I unlinked my account on my Chromebook and then re-linked it. Once that was done and I closed the game, I got confirmation upon reopening that I needed to select an account so that the game could sync and restart. I'm very glad that this works! Thanks much for the assist.
