Cant play multiplayer!!!!!!(actualy about C&C 3)

So after a while of leaving c&c i decide i'd visit c&c 3 again on my new computer. After i download it i decide to refresh my memory and play the tutorial. i then played some skirmishes. After that i thoucgt i would play online after getting used to the game again. I open the tap and it says to update the game...fine...i press ok and it brings up  box and says connecting... then is says could not connect. I've tried many times and have look all over the web for the answer but no topics i could find matched what was happening to me. So i decide to make this post! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!😕mileysad:
