This might help those who did not upgrade to Windows 10 and are still using Win8.1, and using "CD." When I first bought the C&C Deluxe Edition game, I installed it on my XP and played it. Now that I bought a new computer that was 8.1, I installed the game but it did not work when I tried to play it. This was a long shot for me, but I could not think of anything else. I copied the C&C folder from Program Files and copied the C&C folders from My Documents that were on my XP. I still had the game installed on my new computer 8.1, and the only thing I did was deleted the folders in the 8.1 and "replaced" the deleted folders with the "folders from my XP." The C&C folder that was in Program Files on my XP now goes in the Program Files (x86), and the C&C folder(s) from documents still go in documents in your 8.1 version. Note: having the "generals-104-english or generalszh-104-english" patch will help from "some" game crashes and any other problems during gameplay. This might not work for everyone, but it worked for me. However, I am now upgraded to Windows 10 and now it does not work at all.
