C&C Remastered Collection - Origin & Steam

For anyone unaware, on Steam, Command & Conquer Remastered Collection has Steam Workshop support and doesn't require the Origin client. This is not a criticism of the Origin client, it's a functional client, but Steam Workshop support might be a differentiator for some people.

The major problem have had with steam is that one has to have both steam and origin client to be open at same time. Often times it will slow my system down and have high end fast system using windows 10 64bit.

If you purchase Command & Conquered Remastered Collection on Steam, you will not use Origin for the game.

Not all Electronic Arts games on Steam require Origin. Any EA games on Steam which do require Origin specifically mention the following on their store pages: "Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: EA on-line activation and Origin client software installation and background use required."

There are are a couple of different ways to download Steam Workshop mods covered @ https://www.gog.com/forum/shadowrun_series/how_to_get_steam_workshop_mods_without_using_steam/page1. These methods may or may not work for Command & Conquer Remastered Collection (I haven't tried).

There will likely also be mods hosted at one or more of the following: Mod DB, Nexus Mods (which has the Vortex mod manager), GameBanana, and GameFront (GameFront is owned by the same group that owns Mod DB).

  • Should also be said, that the way it's built pretty much everyone should be able to create a mod client for the game. Wonder if support by https://www.nexusmods.com/ or the Twitch client might happen.

@Nyerguds That "partnership" announcement was almost half a year before any of the current lockdowns ,, add to that it explicitly stated:

"Starting next spring, EA Access—...—will be making its way to Steam."

"In the coming months, players on Steam will also be able to play other major titles like"

"Keep an eye out for more news and updates on this partnership in the coming weeks and months!"

COVID-19 lockdown started around Spring, I would think if that was truly the time they would have released EA Access on Steam then they -logically- would have had far more accomplished by that time (games already added to Steam, at least some form of update or communication"

The Steam version does not require you to have Origin running.
