C&C4 Tiberian Twilight - Windows 10 Crash After Logging in.

Hi,

I've had C&C4: Tiberian Twilight for a while now and it worked just fine on Windows 7. It's the Steam version.

However, on Win 10 (x64) it does not launch. I can get to the login screen but after entering my EA account details (I've even tried a new account) the game crashes to desktop.

I've tried various things to solve this:

  • Run as admin
  • Compatibility modes
  • Disable UAC
  • Disable display #2
  • Disable Steam overlay
  • -win command line
  • Reinstall / re validate files.

On opening a support case I was advised by an EA specialist that vivoxsdk.dll was crashing (from MsInfo) and I should replace the corrupt version. Not quite sure this is the correct way of solving it as the DLL was re-downloaded on my last fresh install.

I have even tried replacing vivoxsdk.dll with a newer version (I think version 3 is the one that ships with the game, and I've tried version 4). Same crash!

What is puzzling is it appears the game was at some point (according to Vivox logs) trying to connect https://www.cncp.vivox.com/api2/viv_get_prelogin.php which simply does not exist any more. This might not be relevant anymore as Fiddler (for HTTP request logging) doesn't do this anymore.

Seems to me like EA's support for this game is pretty poor so I thought I'd see if anyone in the community knows an answer.

Spec:

Win 10 x64

I7 4790k 4.5Ghz

Asus Z-97 Pro

16GB Cosrair Dominator

980ti 6GB
