Command & Conquer - Red Alert 3

Hello, I want to buy Command & Conquer Red Alert 3, but it says it's for Windows Vista/XP. I have Windows 10, so will I be able to play if I install it on Windows 10 64 Bit? Please answer, thanks.

  • Hey @Tritonjavi

It's possible to play the game on newer operating systems, but it might require a few special settings for launch, like:

    1. Disabling Origin in-game.
    2. Running the program in the compatibility mode with Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
    3. Install DirectPlay

      • Press the Windows key (between Ctrl and Alt) and the R key at the same time.

      • In the Open box, type Control Panel and click OK.

      • Select Programs.

      • Click on Turn Windows Features on or off and turn on the DirectPlay feature in this new window.

    4. Activate DirectDraw or Direct3D.
    5. Install older VC++ packages. In this case: vc2005sp1 - you will find them in \Origin Games\Command and Conquer Red Alert 3\__Installer\vc\vc2005sp1 after installing the game.

Remember that you can always use our Great Game Guarantee refund in case you won't be able to launch the game and get your money back.

    Hi,

Are any of these methods tired and verified to work?  I have tried them and they don't work for me.

    Windows 10 64 bit

No matter that settings I use I keep getting the direct X9.0c error.
