Command & Conquer Generals "Admin Privilege" Issue.

I recently decided to bring out my old Command & Conquer Generals games from when it was first released. But after installing it, it is asking for "Admin Privileges" and won't run. I have everything set to admin etc but just won't run. Seems all the tricks I followed on google etc aren't working. I am on Windows 7. I've tried compatibility mode as XP SP3 and all as well. Can anyone help with this please?

This was the most recent trick I tried but still no luck:

Vista/7 Users should install the game in Admin mode, to do this run Windows Explorer then browse to your DVD drive,
right click on Setup.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility > Tick "Run This Program as an Administrator".

And you need to run it as an admin every time you start the game. Note that C&C the Ultimate Edition is coming out soon which is basically the First Decade plus all the newer games and the older (TFD) games have been tweaked to work without any issues on W7. So that's also an option.

  • Any chance someone can help me with this? My partner and I would like to be able to play the game. He and I both have copies and are both using Windows 7.

@CrabHead501 I'm not sure what you mean but it was from when it was first released 19 or so years ago. Both Generals and Zero Hours has the issue.
