command & conquer generals
purchased the deluxe edition, and cleary states that it will work on Windows XP operating system. have tried on three different ones and the disc is not recognized. I tried on a Windows 7 computer...
I still use Windows XP on one of my PC's and have all the Command and Conquers installed and working fine... (apart from C&C Red Alert 3 and C&C4 (DRM crap so wont buy them lol)
Anyway, I remember I had to right click on the icon on the desktop and select properties. Then click on the 'Compatibility' tab and tick the box and select the appropriate OS from the list. That worked for me when I installed the First Decade.
