I've been a Command and Conquer nut since the very first release. I still play C&C Generals Zero Hour under Windows 7 and it runs perfectly. I've upgraded to Windows 10 and the game will no longer launch. It has no error codes or messages. It just will not launch. Does anyone know a work around to run this game or type of game under Windows 10? I've tried using compatibility mode (XP and 7) and it doesn't change anything. Any help would be appreciated.

After spending 2 - 3 days on and off (and most of today) i got the game running on Windows 10 x64.After playing around with the driver, and it signature, enabling / disabling signature enforcement, i had the thought that the secdrv driver is actually related to the secure rom which is used to validate the disk and lock the game down (don't know how accurate that statement is.)Anyway, it occured to me that if that was the case, the game might work with a no-cd patch, and indeed it does. And it plays very well. Have you done all the general maintenance? Disabled Origin In Game, set the compatibility modes, made sure it runs with administrator rights?

Some interesting things that i noticed;There is an event log entry blocking a driver that coincides with starting the game (can't figure out how to post images)It is blocking SecDrv from being loaded.SecDrv.sys is a driver file located in the CC generals folder. I tried everything i could find for windows 8.1, no luck.Added / edited the options.iniTried all options under compatibility mode, and some different combinationsRunning as administratorEnabled built in admin account, tried it from thereThe initial error i saw was: Access denied: Please login with administrator privileges and try again.Now it just doesn't do anything, then the compatibility troubleshooter pops up and asks if it worked.

Did you install the game on windows 10 or is it a leftover from your old windows version? It seems like there are a lot of problems with the stuff that was kept from your hdd before the update, it might be the best to try re-installing everything that causes problems

Hi all,

If you are experiencing the DX 8.1 with the Origin Ultimate Collection version try moving dbghelp.dll from

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour

This worked for me.

The original sources from CD are not working. Tried it for years to play it on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 without any solution.

ome weeks ago i bought the Ultimate Collection or what ever it is called with all 17 CnC games for 5€. I installed Command and Conquer Generals and Zero Hour via Origin and could start it without any problems.

I had the same issue and found that it was resolved when I disconnected my second monitor.

I know this is not an ideal fix but it worked for me.

Where did you find the patch that didn't have a virus?

I am working on the same issue as you.

I followed your steps minus the patch.

Everywhere I have tried has had a virus attached to it.

Updated to latest patch
