C&C games

All C&C games i have were purchased a long time ago, and they were the ones with CDs and serial numbers.  Unfortunately, these are no longer compatible with the latest OS.

Is there any way i can install and play these games without having to purchase the games again?

  • Get the C&C theultimate collection on steam or origin, otherwise raise it directly with EA and they may be able to convert the key to a digital license.

  • C&C the ultimate collection doesn't work correctly right now so I wouldn't recommend  downloading it right now. EA need to fix it or Microsoft need to fix Windows.

  • I was hoping to avoid spending more money on games that i already had.

If i had to purchase, then C&C Ultimate seemed the best option.  Did see that on steam, and then it disappeared from the store a couple of hours later.  Haven't seen it back in the store for almost 2 weeks now.  If it does come back to the store, then i might purchase it despite already having the games and despite the workaround below.

I tried the link provided above, but it just takes me to some weird site that i don't understand.  If it is indeed C&C, then it's a version of C&C but not as i know it.

I thought i'd give installing and running the DVDs i had anyway for Tiberium Wars and Tiberium Twilight, and running them in compatibility mode.  Doesn't quite work, but with some support from EA Games and a few tweaks, i've been able to play these 2.  I'll probably try the same with the other ones i have at a later date.

Thanks for the comments above all.

Contact EA, i had the same with DA Origins, when i provided them with a picture of the CD, my account name and a picture of the serial number they added the content to my EA account.

Also: For the ones not working, try using DOSBOX.

None of the games in this collection are DOS games... the two games that have DOS versions (C&C1 and RA1) both have Win95 versions, which are freeware. So there is no point in using DOSBox for anything C&C related.

  • For over 2 months now I have not been able to play C&C the ultimate collection properly. RA1 fails most of the time with a blank screen. Cntrl/alt/del does not always work so sometimes I cannot cancel the game (which shows as running at 30% CPU). Uninstalling and re-installing Red Alert 1 had no effect.

No support, no logs, no trace, no reports, no idea what is going on and why occasionally it will work but most of the time not.

Not impressed by EA Games support. This is an EA Games forum and I expect games I pay for should work.

You have failed to understand that this is a 'player helping player' forum provided by EA.  It is not an official support channel by EA staff.

You need to contact and deal with EA help at ea.com/help for support.   The other thing to remember that, although the original CnC games are sold in bundles, they are very old games.

I am having the same issue with the C&C Ultimate Collection. I purchased it in 2013 and always worked with Origin. Now, even though I still have the games, it won't work for EA or Steam. I spoke to a representative on EA last night, after about 1/2 hour trying to figure out what has happened, he hung up on me. Very demoralizing when an individual cannot even find answers from EA.
