Command and Conquer Generals/ZeroHour not launching

I bought the 17 game pack from origin last night, I downloaded Generals/ZeroHour and when I laugh it acts like it is starting up fine. It says the EA Games into and then I get a crash that says

"You have encountered a Serious Error. Serious errors can be caused by many things including viruses, overheated hardware and hardware that does not meet the minimum specifications for the game. Please visit the forums at www.generals.ea.com for suggested courses of action or consult your manual for Technical Support contact information."

I dont have a virus, my hardware is not over heating I just turned on my PC. and Im pretty sure my computer is fine running this. It ran it years ago, granted I still do have windows XP on this computer but that shouldnt be a problem. Can anyone help me here?

Running into the same problem on the digital version in the collection, but the problem has to be with the digital version because I uninstalled the digital and reinstalled my old retail disk version and it works fine.  Still running XP here too, so the problem might be how XP handles something in the downloaded version.
