command and conquer red alert 2. keeps freezing randomly

For the RA2.exe file: In Properties --> Compatibility, setting the "Compatibility mode" to "Windows 98 / ME" and "Reduced color mode" to "16 bit color" seems to have fixed it for me.

(I also use ts-ddraw and have set "ForceDirectDrawEmulation = 1" in the aqrit.cfg file)

here in Feb 2024, got RA2 thru EA Games app "Command & Conquer™ The Ultimate Collection"

Running Win 7

*not sure if needed but, have Compatibility mode set for Win 7 as well*

THANKS!  I had forgotten how to do this as I used to run old games like this b4.  The simple fix comes thru yet again!  🤓
