Command and Conquer Ultimate Edition in English in Switzerland

Hi,

I just recently tried to purchase Command and Conquer Ultimate Edition in Switzerland and the game was only available in German. When I contacted support the only thing they could do for me is refund me the game. I'd like to understand how is it impossible to get a game in English here in Switzerland, or in French or in Italian for that matter. Switzerland has 3 official languages, German, French and Italian. You'd think that at least that French and Italian would be available, but no. The thing is, there are also native English speakers here in Switzerland and would like their games in the original language. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had this issue here. I mean there's an EA games office in Geneva, french speaking corner of Switzerland. How can this issue never have been taken care of? On steam I can get some command and conquer games in English but not on Origin?  Please explain and give a solution.

What? That's not right... those people have access to your account; they should be able to exchange it with an English-language version with no problems.

EA is not allowed to sell the non-German versions in Germany, because they are missing the censoring specifically put in place in these versions to conform to German censorship laws, but Switzerland doesn't fall under that, so they should be perfectly capable of exchanging it. I'll be sure to mention this in the internal circles.

Note that the unofficial patches and freeware versions for C&C1 and RA1 also add multi-language support, with the censorship removed from the German games (and the freeware Tiberian Sun is simply the English version).

  • Hi Nyergurds,

Thanks for your reply and for mentioning this higher. I think the only accessible store in Switzerland is the German one for now, that must explain the German only version. Untill Origin makes a Swiss Origin, I'm sure I'm pretty much screwed. But they should at least give us access to the French or English Origin if this is the case.

    Thanks though.
