Command and Zero Hour, connection issues
i have the First Decade and my friend has Generals Deluxe edition and both of us cannot join a game. there was no option to select these versions but i assume it will make no difference anyway. firewall pops up and ask if i wanted to run zero hour and, of course, i press "yes", also turned firewalls off but still get the same message "unable to connect to other players". running as administrator fixed the problem of getting "different version" message so rule that out. my friend is running windows 8 and i was running 7 but have tried now on xp (which i had no problems with before, same router etc) and i am getting same message. there is no internet connection issues and i can get on to generals online no problem, it is only when i try to begin a game that one of the following will happen;
window will pop up saying "waiting for probe response" and i will then get message "unable to connect to other players"
or
if i do manage to make it to loading screen, i will see my bar move up but not any other players and after a few minutes will be forced into the game without any other players.
google says i need to set up port forwarding, i believe this is unnecessary but gave it a go anyway but my hub keeps, well "not behaving" is probably most accurate to describe it.
heres the walkthrough i used, which is very good but has not helped me.
this seems like a common issue with Zero Hour so i hope there is an easier cure but any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks
