Constantly screwed over during events

EA never fails to screw you over.  Every single event for this game, I'll win 4 or 5 out of the first six matches, and then proceed to get hosed in the last four being matched against opponents and units that I have no chance against.  Just another ploy from EA to screw you out of the higher rewards with their deliberately * poor matching system.

  • Events look at your win percentage in the event and try to match you with people with similar win percentage in the event. No wonder it gets harder the more you win.

Here are some tips how I do the events:

Don't play right as the event starts and don't play when the event is about to end. Then your chances of winning are higher. This is personal experience. So I recommend waiting a few hours before event starts, or even a whole day. But don't do it last minute either, or your chances drop again.

Also, when you loose a match, wait 30-60 seconds before attempting another one, so that the chance of getting the same person and loosing again is lower.

It also depends on what league you are in. If you stopped climbing at diamond or platinum, you'd be having a great time at those events. If you were in master or tiberium good luck if you don't have units past the level limit. You'd be facing against tough opponents that don't usually tech. I got one of my two accounts to master league twice and regret it, lost most tournaments cause the players were either better than me or were higher leveled.

Everybody agrees that the quality of the matchmaking in this game is indeed really poor. However, this is at least partially a function of the (IMO wrong) requirement that the player must always be able to play a match, no matter who is online right now and no matter what time of the day it is.

Things would be much better if you could have scheduled matches and rematches against players who you KNOW to be on par with you.

    Also:

  • Happened yet again today.  7 wins out of the first 10, 1 win out of the last five.  Total joke.

So it works as intended? You get harder opponents the further you get. If you have 14 wins and then go for the final match you will most likely fight someone who also won 14 games, meaning, a hardcore player. So you'll probably lose.

  • They want to face lower players so that the lower player can complain about being matched with a higher player.

They want it both ways. The way it works is that the lower players are eliminated. The medium players are left going after the superior players. At the end, it’s superior vs superior. You are in the superior player category and will go up against another superior player.

Are you quite sure that this is how it works?

At the beginning, everybody has a win rate of 0% in the event. So matching would be completely random then. After one fight, you either have a win rate of 0% or 100% in the event (not counting draws, but these are really seldom). That does not really make it much better, since the 0% people would again be matched against the other 0% people, and the 100% win rate people would be matched against the other 100% people. So, still completely random.

Only after a significant amount of games played - say, ten - you would arrive at a win rate that is rather meaningful. But then the event is already over, or there is not much left of it.

To me, it honestly seems like it's completely random. I have gotten easy opponents right after I have won, and I have gotten hard opponents right after I have lost, sometimes several times in a row. So yeah, I don't really think it is anything other than the complete crap shoot that is so defining for this game.

Probably not percentage but wins vs losses.

And, yes, that first match or two can be all over the place because you'll get matched with someone just starting as well.

I find the match making for events to be very consistent with my overall win/loss rate when compared to a large number of ranked games so I think it dials you in pretty quick if using your usual army.

    Hi,

Events work by matching you against players with a similar win/loss record for that specific event. So, as you win more matches, you should face opponents who have also won more matches.

There is a built in range that you can be matched against. That range depends on which event you are in (e.g. the total number of battles played). There's no conspiracy happening though - it's intended that tougher opponents face each other as they win 🙂

@EA_dance210 So its designed to keep casual players from winning and hardcore/whales on top so thats why they are sitting in lower lvl leagues bc of these events.
