(I also tried placing the still zipped map folder in there hoping maybe that would change my luck. It didn't help though.)Did you try unzipping into a new folder inside your maps folder? I think each map needs its own folder in there:

Custom maps can also be installed manually by placing them in the Command & Conquer 3 Maps folder. Files for each map reside in their own folders within this Maps folder. The location of the C&C 3 Maps folder depends on what version of Windows your have installed.
