Game crashes when changing resolution

I just installed red alert 3: uprising and opened the game. It plays perfectly well except i cant change the reslution to 1920x1080. When i change the resolution it crashes. Anyone can help me?

My specs: Gtx680m, i7 3630qm, 32gb ram i guess my specs is enough for this game to be fluent on ultra settings but it crashes

if you have windows 8 you might have the same problem i had... i solved it by looking for the RA3EP1.exe in windows explorer, right clicking it -> properties -> compatibility -> disable display scaling on high DPI settings... it now works fine

I have this same issue.  I get taken back to the desktop at 800x600 and a popup telling me a "pure virtual function called" with 256 adresses.  I have tried all of the previous fixes of which none have worked.  I know I can max this game my problem is simply the resolution issue.

I got this to work on Windows 8.1 by using the above workaround 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings' and selecting 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' Windows 7.

I had problems with this even following all the fixes.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Command and Conquer Red Alert 3\RA3Launcher.exe" -xres1920 < this is what my target line looks like in the shortcut on the desktop. Dont know if it does anything.

In the compatibility options i ticked.

    1. run this program as administrator.

    2. Disable display scaling on high DPI settings.

Also i run the game in compatibility with windows 7.

Also i went into origin right clicked the game and game settings and clicked disable origin for this game so it doesnt check.

The game now works fine and i can change the resolution in game on both ra3 and c&c without it cutting to the desktop and crashing the game on me. BTW im on windows 8

thank you soooooo much. this solved my problem with cnc 3

  • I had the same problem when you pick 1080p.  Do not pick ultra for settings it will cause you game to crash.  As long as you do not pick Ultra 1080p should work.

On Windows 10, this wasn't enough to fix this problem for CNC3 (Tiberium Wars) for me.  I had to change the Compatibility mode (on CNC3.exe) to Windows Vista SP2, as well.

Oddly, CNCEP1.exe (from Kane's Wrath) worked without this workaround.
