@DutchyBudgiePlease install GenTool (https://www.gentool.net/). This allows you to choose the native resolution of your screen in the game's in-game graphics/video menu itself, which should remove any silly black bars you've encountered. Did this help for you? Btw, no worries, it doesn't affect gameplay at all 🙂 So, it is not really a modification of the game, but more some extras, tweaks and fixes that improve the game on modern systems instead of modifying gameplay.

- @DutchyBudgie Yes, as can be read on the GenTool website. Just download the installer (simplest option), it should find the generals installation folder automatically and apply GenTool.
