RA3 crashes during loading screens
Hi,
I was just wondering whether anyone knows the most likely reason why the game is crashing during loading screens? It seems to happen for both tutorial and campaign missions. I just recently bought the game on the Steam sale, and am running it on a Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit operating system.
As far as technical specifications go, here is a short list of what I have. I use an ATI Radeon HD 4800 series video card, and I have an AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Processor (2.50 GHz). As for memory I have 4.00 GB of ram, and I recently cleaned my power supply so my computer is fairly stable in general.
I'm kind of new to getting technical support so I'm not sure what to put out there. I really hope people still look over these forums as they seem kind of dead.
I was hoping that maybe there was some way to run this game on Origin to see if it made any difference, but I can't seem to migrate the game over using the steam product code, as there is some kind of error (although I will try again today). Besides that I am at a loss as to what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Well I solved it. After a few tries with EA's origin website, I managed to add the product key for RA3 and it started downloading the game again. I copied the primary data folder from my steam folder to the origin folder (I only wanted to transfer the core files to minimize risk of transferring over something that caused problems), and after resuming download it jumped to 97% and completed shortly thereafter.
The only major difference I can see is that it didn't have to install this special file, I think it was some distributable version of C++ or something. Anyway either as a result of that or something else, running the game through Origin worked fine. As a side benefit my computer didn't crash when running other games, so I think that installation of C++ made my computer pretty unstable. Good thing restore points exist!
I hope my experience helps someone else. So far I'm close to finishing the first soviet campaign and the game runs nice and smoothly.
