Nice write up - thanks.

Doesn't really excuse why I'm dealing with level 44+ players at levels 20-27, but hey, whatever.

For units costs I'm good with GDI - I do use war dogs and for cost and speed they're a decent counter.    Your strategy should help even more.

It's just Nod verse Nod  - it's like you really do have to have militants to make it effective...  when under level, the Scarabs ability to hit air is just oppressive.

I will say if you can manage to stay parallel for the beginning - they're less impressive once the battle gets going.

    if you are playing NOD and don't have militants, you can always start with a unit first. Even if it's lasers, you can usually stop the scarabs in their track. If they challenge your lasers, you will kill 1, and then lose to the other which means they traded 30 tib for your 20 and you can get back there faster.

    Thanks - will try it that way. Think my issues is I just haven't waited for them to move against me to see what happens. --> 'Must have patience young padawan.'

    Still, one unit shouldn't affect how you prepare for every battle. And/or it shouldn't be an issue until you are also level 44 or close to it.

    Like I said, the biggest problem with scarabs is the sudden surprise, followed by the "how do you deal with this unit?!" complaints. Once you understand a scarab, you laugh when someone uses it because it's a useless card in their deck. Honestly, scarabs need a buff, but they will never get it because they are such a new player trap.

    the biggest problem i have with them is my units stop shooting once they do the butt wiggle and thats messed up they shouldnt stop shooting

    @BattaIia actually that's quite interesting, what kind of buff would you recommend for scarabs then? I was thinking maybe more of a rework rather than an outright buff, but then again I'm also not sure how everything will balance out

    Honestly a rework probably would be the best idea. Solves both sides of the argument. Easiest buff that comes to mind would be lower cost to 20 tib, then at least it trades at an efficient rate if they have a 10 tib spam unit. Failing that... I'd consider giving it 3-4 members instead of 2 and lowering the damage each scarab can do. 1 shots a unit like rifles, but only does 50% damage to an equal HP shock/flame squad or 50% damage to a talon/venom/buggy/rhino. Gives more units a chance to get in there and destroy a unit or two before going down.

    Lastly would be a speed buff, or attack buff, but I'm hesitant to delve into that as that just makes the situation against less experienced players even worse.

    Fought the same opponent twice yesterday - it was interesting as he used the scarabs like mines - laced them so you couldn't really get by without losing units.  Since he was well over level 44 or so - with the way he set up - this has been a favorite tactic.    But yeah, you could take a laser unit, run into one space quick and then quick run to the next - Scarab 1 chases you then it also triggers scarab 2 as you move into the next square.  I hit his harvesters as he hadn't built them yet and trounced him.

    I thought for sure when I fought again he wouldn't do it - but there he was, setting up his scarabs again.

    Point of coming back here - other then to say thanks again - is to say Scarabs really do force a sharp learning curve.  And like - either you get lucky figuring it out (unlikely), go look for info (maybe), or just have a bad bad time of it/quit. 

    It really is an overall bad unit - both for new players in the game and in of itself.
