Re: Adding custom maps in Origin's C&C Ult. Coll.

@trapee01

Yeah, fairly sure you just dump those in the game install folder...

    Don't mean to bump on old thread, but this is the closest thing that I have found that I'm currently dealing with. I have downloaded some maps from CnC Labs, but they aren't showing up on skirmish mode. I have the ultimate edition from Origin and not sure what to do next. It's for offline play skirmish mode only. Just wanting to play custom and modded maps. Here is my directory, C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Command and Conquer Red Alert II\Maps\Custom

    Any help would be appreciated

    You could've just read my answer.

    Fairly sure that "Maps\Custom" folder was added by CnCNet. It's not original. Don't put the files in there, just put them in the game folder itself.

  • Did you ever figure it out? I used to make maps and put gems all over one field and fight the hardest so I always had a bunch of cash. I assume since its Origins that can't happen.

    Did anyone figure this out yet?  Is it not possible to play custom maps for CnC 3 or CnC 3 Uprising?

    I put them in the AppData folder and in the game folder and in subfolders of each and nothing shows up in the map selection when the game is run.

    NONE of these worked ...

    Subdirectory in this folder ....

    C:\Documents and Settings\MyUserName\Application Data\red alert 3\Maps\erics_map

    Subdirectory in this folder...

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Command and Conquer Red Alert 3\Red Alert 3\Maps\eriks_map

    Subdirectory in this folder...

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Command and Conquer Red Alert 3\Red Alert 3\eriks_map

    The raw files dumped into this directory ...

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Command and Conquer Red Alert 3\Red Alert 3\Maps\

    The raw files dumped into this directory ...

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Command and Conquer Red Alert 3\Red Alert 3\

  • Does anyone know the exact folder to drop them in? I've tried every variation of the 'maps' folder but nothing works (they don't even show on the maps list).

    Also just saying "the main folder" doesn't mean anything. Please be specific as there are plenty of folders to choose which could be the main folder.

    I also only have either 'battle' or 'free for all'. There are no other game options available. Has anyone else encountered this?

    @Gen_Punishment I'm Having the same issue. I've tried putting them in the main folder where the installation was, also tried putting them in maps/custom, but they're not showing up for me either.

    @Cottenmouth58

    None of these people, including you, have even mentioned which game they are talking about. The original question in this thread was about Red Alert 2, and, like all games older than C&C Generals, it acts a lot different than the newer ones, since these older games don't use the windows Documents folder. The only place they are capable of checking is their own installation folder.

  • The main game folder is just the first folder after Origin games folder. Once you download your maps and extract them to .yrm file, just place the .yrm file into the folder after the Origin games folder. No sub folder needed. Then restart Origin or EA app and boot up Red Alert 2, etc. You have to play most downloaded mod maps under the Battle mode within Skirmish. The new maps will be at the very bottom of the maps list. Good luck!
