This is my exact problem. I've been through the EA Support live chat three times (Case #61400489), trying all the various workarounds they suggested:

Go there, you should find you answer there. Thanks for the reference, but nothing in that thread helped to fix my issue. I am using Steam on Windows 10 and I tried messing with all my Nvidia settings, but I'm still unable to load up the game at all. I have a GTX 2070 with up-to-date drivers, plus an SSD. This is so depressing.
Are you sure you aren't getting a popup from Windows 10 firewall requesting access to the network be granted? I got the black screen until I alt+tab and saw the popup. I hit OK and it works fine.
The black screen locks up my PC; alt+tab, Ctrl+alt+del, alt+f4 don't do anything. I have to restart every time. I do hear the opening video sounds and main menu music (I think), but just a black screen and unresponsive PC.
6 years and no fix or anything??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I love that I was playing with no problem and this suddenly started happening to me. Can't find a fix ANYWHERE. I have tried EVERYTHING mentioned and not a single thing has worked. FFSNoTreason They posted the fix; it was "turn off msi afterburner."
