Re: c&c red alert 2 and yuri. string manager fails

Try setting compatibility mode to a lower version of windows on game.exe (for RA2) and gamemd.exe for YR.  (Right click > Properties > Try Windows 98 )

Hmm it could be I've missed something/or you haven't set something - I could help you via team-viewer if you want? Private message me a teamviewer ID and i'll see if I can help you out.

Mainly trial and error, double check admin privileges you have set in the properties. Tinker with the compatibility settings mainly on game.exe for ra2, and gamemd.exe for YR to see it has an effect.

    If all else fails...

Try temporarily disabling UAC, and launching the game again. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/turn-user-account-control-on-off#1TC=windows-7

Note this isn't a permanent solution and should not be left off, if the game runs with this off its to do with admin privileges.

and i have to restart 2 times to  reset it and to turn it off as well.. i,m not going to risk stuff.. but if its temporary then why do it anyways(not trying to be rude or anything here)it wouldnt solve if i cant have it turned off

(also on a late note. i run  on win7, forgot to implement that)

(second note. i was still screwing up because i did COMPATIBILITY and not ADMIN checks. so dumb)

everything is asking for permission for admin. so it doesnt work.. its totally a thing that needs a fix

i,m just thinking also that i had a cd copy of the game installed once. maybe it  is not working due to that (tough i had it uninstalled )

Right ok, so lets try a different approach, by changing the install location of the Origin games.  Instead of the games being installed into program files (which requires admin privileges - try changing the location to My documents > Origin Games).

You can change the location where games will be installed within the Origin Client. Just select Origin (top left corner) > Application Settings > Advanced (the last tab on the left hand side) and then click on the "Change..." button underneath Downloaded Games - Your games will be installed to the following location.
