Re: Classic Red Alert: Custom Maps & Installing Custom Maps on Red Alert

I'm not fully sure, though I believe it is:

EA Games - The First Decade pack

C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Red Alert(tm)\Maps\Custom

EA Games - Original Red Alert

C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer Red Alert\Maps\Custom

Origin - The Ultimate Collection

C:\Program Files\Origin Games\The Ultimate Collection\Command & Conquer Red Alert\Maps\Custom

Origin - Original Red Alert

C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Command & Conquer Red Alert\Maps\Custom

Westwood - Original Red Alert

C:\Program Files\Westwood Studios\Command & Conquer Red Alert\Maps\Custom

NOTE: These are accurate for 95/98/2000/XP/Vista, for Window 7, please use the "Program Files (x86)" Directory. Slight variations may apply.

Further NOTE: Windows 8/8.1/10 do not support Origin Games that pre-date the release of Windows 8 without being HACKED first (Sorry to say, but that is how it is), DO NOT try to use Compatibility mode unless you know what you're doing. CLOUD Feature MOST be disengaged via the Registry directly prior to use of the Ultimate Collection as the older Games do not have compatibility to use the CLOUD stably. The CLOUD Feature does not support the Operation of Pre-Windows 8 Games from Origin (THIS INFORMATION IS ACCURATE FROM JAN-2015).

FINAL NOTE: ALL Westwood games have major issues on Windows 8/8.1/10 and do not function correctly.

    @CommieKazeDave

    Is this for CnCNet, or just for plain old RA1 skirmish?

    @zoolex That's just for cncnet. Plain old RA just looks inside the game folder, and nowhere else. And there are easier ways to know where the game is installed... like, y'know, remembering where you installed it, or looking up the games install folder in the Origin settings 😛

    And the older C&C games don't have much trouble at all running on new OSes. It's the TS/RA2/Generals generation that have the most problems, since they rely on windows features that have changed since these early windows versions.

    By the way, no need to be all dramatic about the AMG HACKED thing; the oldest three Command & Conquer games are all freeware anyway. We HACKED! them to patch bugs.
