Yes, I'm the one and only local admin on my pc ;-)
Other games works well from both EA App, Origin in the past, and Xbox Game app too. Ubisoft, Steam and so on ..
@Ph1LDK If your UAC is not set to highest, try that. Also, is your machine on a domain with a group policy overriding your local security settings?
Local user, local workgroup.
UAC is disabled. Why set to highest? All other games / apps work well..No local GPO's defined, all default.
@Ph1LDK It appears to be EA's crappy coding and other users have found setting UAC to high has allowed them to launch the game.
You know what... I have a few tears in my eyes now, FINALY WORKING!!! Totally nostalic, awesome intro etc. YES BABY!
UAC -> High -> Reboot
EA App required relogin and added games from now. Then it started in first attemp.Hours, and hours spend... I really wanted it to work, now it WORKS!
THANKS <3
@Ph1LDK Glad you got it working. Enjoy the nostalgia! 🙂
For me, it does work if I log into Windows 11 using the admin account. It does not work with my user account, even if I start EA as admin. Interestingly, when I start it as admin, EA shows up as my normal user in the task manager. I also started task manager as admin to be sure to see tasks running under admin. EADesktop runs under the normal user, and the EABackgroundService runs as system, nothing as admin.
Has anybody have any success actually running EA as admin while being logged into Windows with a standard user?
I still don't get why so many software developers fail to get their software running under a normal windows user account - especially big developers like EA. After all, this is the recommended setup - you should only use the admin account to do "admin stuff". Maybe they are stuck in the 90ties, dreaming of the "good" old simple times?
@spitfire_ch I'm thinking that just like MS store apps can't be run as admin, the EA app is probably the same. Feels like this issue is probably going to remain until EA fix it their side.
- @bleearghh you're probably right ☹️ Question is, why does this game need admin rights at all. They could have get rid of that requirement when they remastered it ... Also, Origin was able to launch it in this configuration, so, in theory, it should also be possible with EA, it's just a different launcher.
@spitfire_ch Oh indeed, completely agree and the EA App leaves a lot to be desired!
