Re: Do local

@Terminator291299

Command & Conquer 1, Red Alert 1 and Tiberian Sun have all been upgraded with community-created unofficial patches that fix a lot of their bugs and compatibility problems, and that includes the fact they use the outdated IPX network protocol for LAN games. So, yes, LAN does work, if you patch the games. For RA2 there's no full 'game patch' like for the others, but there are some useful fixes around, including a LAN patch.

  • The graphics system patch DDWrapper is known to solve the "black screen" issue.
    Download the zip file and extract "ddraw.dll" and "aqrit.cfg" into your game folder. Then, open the configuration file "aqrit.cfg" in Notepad, change the "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" option to 1, save the file, and the game should work.
  • The LAN patch for RA2 can be found here. Do note that due to the Ultimate Collection not setting the game's serials in the registry as it should, some more tweaking there will be required to play those over LAN.

    @Nyerguds maybe, though its sometimes easier just to link something that we *know* for sure works in 2016. I know that works. Hence the post.

    @Nyerguds funky added a LAN option recently I believe.  AFAIK Gamesurge is the reason behind the limit for online.
