I'm having the exact same issue. Thought it might be a registry error, but i cleaned my registry and manually searched for the error in regedit32.exe to no avail. Would really like to figure this out. Could it possibly be a Windows 8 issue? Have you installed the game previously and improperly uninstalled it? I thought that was possibly my issue but I'm not sure. I've also done the suggested install procedures of running as an administrator and in compatibility mode but still i get the same error message displayed.
